Moonlight & Magnolias: Three men have five days to finish one iconic screenplay

Moonlight and Magnolias, Ron Hutchinson’s Off-Broadway comic celebration of one of the greatest movies of all time, opens Friday, Sept. 21 and runs through Sept. 30 at the Park Ballroom, 1232 Park Street in downtown Paso Robles. Wine Country Theatre continues its fourth season with the zany comedy directed by Lisa Woske. This wildly funny and engaging tale illuminates the behind-the-scenes business of movie-making during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Tent City After Dark Moves to Friday

The annual fundraiser for Colony Days, Tent City After Dark, will be bigger and better than ever. The concert will happen in Tent City, which will be set up in Sunken Gardens, on Friday, Oct. 5 starting at 4:30 p.m.
The event has historically been held the Saturday evening of the Colony Days celebration for event goers to get another view of the historic Tent City once the sun went down. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with food trucks and beer and wine and continue well into the night. The main music event will begin at 6 p.m., although there will be amateur musicians and other events happening beforehand.

Cruisin’ Weekend Hits the Streets

Twice a year, Atascadero’s main drag gets shut down for an event — the annual October parade, and Hot El Camino Cruise Nite in mid-August. Now dubbed “Cruisin’ Weekend,” the City of Atascadero-hosted event added Dancing In The Streets to round out the two-day event beginning on Friday, August 17.
While the cruise enters its 26th year, the annual Atascadero Lake Car Show enters its 29th on Saturday, Aug. 18., with the third annual Dancing In The Streets inviting the community to get foot-loose and fancy-free in the Downtown Colony District on Saturday night.

Movies in the Park expands to FIVE showings this year

The community is invited to take over the Sunken Gardens five Saturdays this August and September to watch popular movies. Unlike past years, this summer’s lineup includes a fifth showing thanks to sponsors: Twin Cities Community Hospital, Perry’s Parcel & Gifts, Thrive Gymnastics and Parkour and Idler’s Home.
“We’re able to offer five movies,” city of Atascadero Recreation Supervisor Jennifer Fanning said.
